- Benefits Job Description The Parking Operations Officer leads the operational delivery of Council’s on street parking enforcement activities across the municipality. The role provides direction and oversight to Council’s parking enforcement contractor, coordinates the ongoing roll‑out of inground parking sensors, facilitates private parking agreements, and manages the abandoned and unregistered vehicle processes. Through strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, collaboration, and sound knowledge of legislation and best practice, the Parking Operations Officer ensures parking services are delivered safely, consistently, and in a manner that supports community access and amenity. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day‑to‑day operational delivery of on street parking enforcement in partnership with Council’s parking enforcement contractor.
- Provide clear guidance, direction, and performance monitoring of the parking enforcement contractor to ensure contract and legislative compliance.
- Monitor contractor performance against agreed service levels, KPIs, and compliance requirements, and initiate corrective actions where required.
- Analyse enforcement data and trends to support service planning and performance improvement with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. This includes investigation activities, liaising with members of the public, collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders, and oversight of removals, compliance actions, and follow‑up enquiries.
- Lead the ongoing roll‑out and operational deployment of inground parking sensors, including contractor coordination, issue resolution, data quality oversight, and collaboration with internal and external teams to support system integration, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and facilitate private parking agreements across the municipality, including assessment of applications, contract administration, coordination of signage and on‑site requirements, and ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance with agreed terms and Council standards.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting for all specialised parking programs, and use data and feedback to support service improvements and informed decision making.
- Provide clear advice and operational support to internal stakeholders, contractors, and the community in relation to specialised parking initiatives and associated processes.
- Provide timely, practical, and high quality advice on parking enforcement matters to internal stakeholders and the community.
- Actively contribute to the development, review, and implementation of parking related policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent Council in a positive and skilled manner when communicating with members of the community. Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience in parking enforcement operations and/or infringement administration.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise, accurate and user‑friendly correspondence.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, and ability to interpret reports and data trends.
- Ability to manage and influence contractors and external service providers, including setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, addressing non‑compliance, and building effective working relationships to achieve agreed service outcomes.
- Skilled in building cooperation and gaining support from clients, the public, and other Employees relevant to the role to efficiently manage activities and supervise team members.
- Able to collaborate with external stakeholders and internal teams to address specialist issues within the scope of the role by effectively communicating, building strong relationships, coordinating efforts across functions, and resolving cross‑functional challenges efficiently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and experience partnering with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver best practice parking services.
- You have the ability to work well within a team and also autonomously.
- Understanding of enforcement practices preferred but not essential.
