What You Will Be Doing As a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will report to the Hospital Collector Lead and work in a team across wards including Paediatrics, Medical, ICU, CCU, Emergency, Oncology, Special Care Nursery, Maternity and Rehabilitation. You will use empathy and drive to deliver excellent customer service and quality healthcare. You will liaise with doctors, nurses and patients to understand environmental and patient needs. Your Key Responsibilities
- Liaising and building effective relationships with doctors, nurses and patients within the hospital
- Advanced Pathology Collection – collecting samples (blood and non-blood) across wards and areas including Paediatrics and difficult bleeds with care
- Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample
- Experience in drug and alcohol screening is advantageous but not mandatory What Type of Person Will Be Successful We are looking for an experienced Pathology Collector. You may currently work in a hospital or clinic and want to diversify your career. A Registered Nurse seeking daytime shifts instead of overnight work is also suitable. You should be a great communicator and relationship builder, professional, proactive, and committed to providing quality patient care. Attributes & Skills
- Experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy, ideally with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection or a nursing background
- Excellent liaison and communication skills with empathy and a patient‑centred approach
- Organised with high attention to detail
- Working with Children's Check or willingness to obtain one
- Australian citizenship, permanent resident status, recent Current Zealand citizenship, or valid visa with work rights
- A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment Vaccinations
- Vaccine preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role
