Description
We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Medical Secretaries to join our staff at our Specialist Medical Practice.
Permanent part-time or full-time
Multi-site practice close to hospitals and public transport
**Key duties and responsibilities**
**Reception**
- Take detailed messages and pass on appropriately
- Record appointments
- Confirm patient appointments
**Liaise with patients and their families in a caring and compassionate manner**
**Liaise with GPs, staff, hospitals, specialist and allied health professionals and the broader medical community**
**Correspondence**
- Type and/or prepare documents
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, verbal and electronic correspondence, faxes, and ensure distribution to the correct persons
**Record keeping**
- Ensure all relevant patient contact is recorded in patient history
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Photocopying, scanning, faxing and filing
**Financial**
- Issue invoices and receipts
- Use EFTPOS facilities / Eclipse / Medicare Online
- Prepare and reconcile banking
- Follow up on outstanding amounts owing
**Occupational Health and Safety**
- Ensure safe working setting at all times
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are clean at all times
**Selection criteria**
- Proficiency in office technology and computer systems
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team environment
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and personalities
- Flexibility in working hours, and ability to travel to different practice locations
- Excellent time management skills. Ability to multi-task and attend to competing priorities.
- Professionally presented and courteous to patients at all times
- Previous experience as a medical secretary
- Completion of medical reception / practice management course or equivalent
- CPR / first aid training
- Experience in front desk triage
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Have a willingness to upskill
