With Fire Safety Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to use your knowledge and skills in creative ways. As a Graduate or Junior Fire Safety Engineering Consultant, you will proactively support senior engineers with the preparation of fire engineered performance solutions for a range of building types including residential, commercial, retail, aged care, hospitals, theatres, galleries and industrial developments. You will learn fire engineering principles and science to evaluate compliance with the National Construction Code through means of mathematical calculations, computational modelling and literature reviews. In addition to the above, an interest in bushfire development / management, and designing buildings to AS 3959 and Part G5 of the NCC is also desired. Your Typical Day
- Be part of the Melbourne team reviewing plans, researching literature on fire science, and drafting reports with the assistance of senior engineers.
- Assist with internal reviews of Building Code of Australia, passive and active fire protection.
- Develop Computational Fluid Dynamic smoke movement models using bespoke fire engineering software.
- Undertake Occupant evacuation studies.
- Attend site inspections with senior engineers to document the fire engineered controls specified for projects.

- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aeronautical, chemical, civil, mechanical, structural, etc.).

- A desire to undertake training and develop a career in fire safety engineering.

- Completion or currently enrolled in post graduate studies in fire safety engineering.
- Experience in fire safety engineering programs and calculations (e.g., FDS, Pyrosim, Pathfinder, etc.).
- Understanding of the National Construction Code, VIC Legislation and FRV operations.
- Exposure to on-site operations procedures and inspections.
