Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate graduate to start your consulting career with our Melbourne team, working across a diverse range of projects in geotechnical, pavements, dams, contaminated land and landfill space.
What you'll be doing
* Support field investigations (e.g., site visits, test pits, borehole logging and sampling, and liaising with drillers/contractors) with guidance from experienced engineers.
* Help analyse and interpret geotechnical and environmental data, and learn how to turn data into practical recommendations.
* Draft figures, calculations and sections of technical reports that are reviewed and coached by senior staff.
* Attend project and site meetings to build your consulting skills and confidence in client communication.
* Gain exposure to the full consulting lifecycle—scoping, planning, delivery, quality review and learning what "good" looks like.
From day one, you'll be backed by approachable colleagues, including senior engineers and scientists. You'll have on‐job coaching, access to internal and external training, and mentoring that helps you set goals, track progress and work towards professional accreditation pathways where relevant.
What you'll bring
* Strong interpersonal skills and a love of working in an innovative and collaborative environment.
* A keen interest in developing your technical skills and understanding the intricacies of a consultancy.
* An enquiring mind that can identify and deliver high value to clients.
* Graduation with a BE(Hons) or ME in Engineering.
* Exposure to a variety of skilled experts, clients and projects (field + office), helping you build breadth quickly.
* A highly supportive team environment where you're encouraged to ask questions, learn fast, and shape a career path that matches your ambitions.
* Support for professional memberships and continued education (including guidance toward professional accreditation where relevant).
* Employee‐owned business where our people have a real stake in the quality of our work, our culture, and our long‐term success.
* Internal training programmes plus mentoring to help you set goals and track progress.
"Everyone Matters" is one of our three core values at Tonkin + Taylor, and we are committed to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce that fosters inclusion, participation, and equal chance. We warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including First Nations peoples, those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
