- Insurance & Compensation We are seeking an experienced WorkCover Lawyer to join our Insurance and Compensation team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be commercially minded, technically strong, and able to manage a varied and intellectually stimulating workload. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare clear, well‑reasoned written advice and recommendations regarding serious injury, common law matters and appeals.
- Handle originating motions, damages and statutory benefits litigation.
- Gather evidence by interviewing witnesses and obtaining expert reports.
- Prepare and advocate mediation in Supreme and County Court proceedings.
- Manage own files in relation to Court timetable.
- Record time and handle billing.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and law graduates to foster their professional development.
- Conduct legal research to stay current with legislative changes and case law developments. Skills and Knowledge
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information and identify key issues.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all work.
- Demonstrated initiative with the capacity to apply critical and strategic thinking.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Excellent time‑management skills, managing competing priorities.
- Sound financial housekeeping skills.
- Knowledge of Court Rules. Experience
- Experience within a Victorian WorkCover Authority panel member firm is highly desirable.
- 2‑3 years PAE.
