Mechanical Product Design Engineer Melbourne

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving real engineering problems, working closely with manufacturing teams and taking genuine ownership of projects. This role would suit someone with around3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly-based setting who wants more autonomy, more technical depth and a transparent path into leading projects over time.

The work is technical. The industry is niche. Most engineers who land here end up staying.

What you'll be doing

Designing mechanical systems and products using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD

Developing 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and P&IDs; Supporting prototype builds, testing and design improvements

Working closely with Manufacturing, QA and Product teams throughout development

Contributing to long-term product development projects with real technical complexity

Taking ownership of engineering challenges and helping drive projects forward

What they're looking for

Around 3+ years in a mechanical design role within manufacturing

Intermediate application of Design for Manufacture principles with ability to apply DFM concepts to complex manufacturing processes

Experience designing products that are physically built and assembled

Proficiency in either Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks CAD software for mechanical design and 3D modelling

Mechanical Engineering degree or similar

Australian PR or Citizenship

Helpful, but not essential

HVAC, refrigeration or thermal systems exposure

FEA / CFD experience

Exposure to complex engineered equipment or industrial products
