This position is open in both Melbourne and Brisbane. About the Role:

As a Senior Secondary Design Engineer, you’ll provide expert engineering services across all phases of project development, concept, detailed design, technical due diligence, construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. You’ll work on diverse projects including utility-scale solar farms, wind farms, BESS, and HV substations, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and integrate secondary systems (protection relays, control circuits, SCADA, automation) for utility and renewable energy projects
- Develop panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and relay settings
- Participate in design reviews for constructability, quality, and efficiency
- Support grid connection, planning, and feasibility studies
- Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with protection coordination, communication protocols, and cybersecurity requirements
- Coordinate design and engineering activities with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify and resolve technical issues, escalating as needed About You:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in secondary systems design and engineering
- Expertise in protection, control, metering, and automation systems for HV substations and renewables
- Proficiency with electrical design software (ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory, or similar)
- Solid understanding of protection philosophy, relay settings, and Australian/industry standards
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
- Membership with Engineers Australia, RPEV and/or RPEQ (desirable) Why Join Grid-Link?
