Overview The Opportunity: Our team is seeking a talented and passionate new member to join IGN's Guides team, where you'll play a key role in expanding our game strategy coverage. In this role, you'll create expert, in-depth guides for popular and trending games in a variety of formats. This position is designed to support IGN's 24-hour coverage needs, seamlessly picking up where the US team hands off overnight. IGN’s editorial team is made up of all kinds of people that share a common love of games, TV, movies, comics, tech, and all things geeky. If you're a self-motivated gamer who thrives working independently, has a knack for clear and helpful writing, and gets genuinely excited about being the first to cover the latest releases – this opportunity is for you! This is a full-time role based in Australia, but, our team is also open to considering candidates based in the United Kingdom. This role generally follows a standard working schedule, but due to the nature of the role, you may be required to work outside of normal hours from time to time for big game releases. No travel is required for this role. This role involves computer based work, which requires regular use of hands and vision. Responsibilities
- You’ll collaborate with a team to create and project manage IGN’s industry-leading strategy guides, including contributing to maps, videos, and unique tools.
- You\'ll play and capture games of all sorts and showcase your expertise in the most popular games of the moment in your content.
- You’ll inform coverage for popular games and genres by knowing more about them than anyone – and being able to show off with great gameplay in your coverage. We are especially interested in CRPGs, Metroidvanias, FPS, Soulslikes, and/or other niche, tough-as-nails genres.
- You’ll anticipate and interpret player needs, including search intent, and edit guides to reflect those needs.
- You’ll promote game help content on IGN’s many platforms (IGN.com, YouTube, social etc.) with smart headlines and unique angles.
- You’ll track trends and work with our audience gen experts on coverage angles.
- Side quests include participating in the creation of all IGN content, including reviews, news, previews, and appearances on shows and podcasts. Qualifications
- You have published video game strategy guide work.
- You have experience working SEO and GEO terms and phrases naturally into your work so it reads well for humans (and one very particular robot).
- You have experience editing others’ work for clarity and optimization in accordance with a style guide.
