Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling, comprising CPB Contractors, Ghella, and Acciona Construction. Together, we are delivering the southern section of tunnels for Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East – 16km of twin tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley, which will be Victoria’s longest transport tunnel. This project is being delivered on behalf of the Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA). SRL East, spanning from Cheltenham to Box Hill, is now being constructed. Tunnelling is set to commence in 2026, with trains expected to begin running by 2035. The works include 55 cross passages, two tunnel portal structures, two station box excavations, and various associated support tasks. Primary Purpose of the position To drive strategic direction and governance in the area of indigenous participation & social inclusion to enhance work-winning and project delivery. Key Accountabilities
- Work collaboratively with Construction Teams to identify all opportunities for Social Benefit Suppliers to be considered on project and work to
- Responsible for supporting all mainstream subcontractors to achieve the Social Impact commitments as outlined in their contract. This includes introducing them to relevant Social Benefit Suppliers, connecting them with the broader Social Impact team or external organisations to help meet Building Equality Policy commitments, and providing access to internal resources or external organisations to support their Major Project Skills Guarantee commitments.
- Work with the Social Impact Manager to identify SBS that can respond to new packages/scope of works on project
- Manage the subcontractor reporting on a monthly basis to ensure they are meeting commitments and implement the Corrective Action Plan, as required
- Escalate any non-performance to the Social Impact Manager or Senior Manager, as required
- Represent Social Impact team at various initiatives to speak and educate Suburban Connect employees on the Social Impact commitments and the role they play in contributing
- Regularly provide sound advice and assistance to implement initiatives that will assist the projects to meet their targets
- Assist with formulating strategies over the life-cycle of the project to achieve all the Social Impact commitments What we’re looking for
- Degree or post-graduate qualifications in Business Administration, Human Resources, Indigenous Studies or other associated disciplines
- 5 years’ + experience in a social procurement or similar role
- 3 years’ + experience in Indigenous Affairs
- Knowledge of all government policies and requirements relate to Social Procurement framework, Local Jobs First and Building Equality Policy and how the relate and can be applied in the construction industry
- Exceptional relationship and influencing skills
