- Melbourne The Observing Operations Training group supports the Bureau's observations programs through the development and delivery of specialised training and assessment for observing operations staff.
The occupant of this position will deliver training on systems and procedures, relating to the rollout of a new data gathering system (automatic weather station- AWS) which is occurring in the next twelve months. The duties will include development of recent course material as well as the updating of current training content. The material will be developed and delivered in a variety of ways; through our learning management system (Moodle) or the creation of web tools, videos and documentation.
The position will be based in Melbourne, however the occupant may occasionally be required to travel interstate to participate in regionally based training activities. Additionally, from time to time, the occupant will undertake course management activities associated with the range of short technical courses conducted throughout the year.
An industry accredited adult education qualification, equivalent to at least Certificate 4 level is currently a requirement of undertaking training and assessment activities. Holding a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is an advantage.
The occupant will be expected to have a broad knowledge of the Bureau's operations, and have substantial experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment. A good understanding of theoretical electronics, IT and their practical applications is necessary (including current Bureau operational systems and software). The occupant will be expected to contribute to training of staff in the use of current Bureau software-based management systems such as SAP, EAMS and EDMS, and make effective use of these systems in his or her other training.
A measured but flexible approach to training and education is preferred, as the duties include much interaction with varied groups of adult learners. It is expected that the successful applicant will have demonstrated an aptitude or interest in furthering their academic studies and personal development opportunities. How to register:
