Nationally accredited programs across the department include Active Volunteering, Sport and Recreation, Sport, Aquatics and Recreation, Sport and Event Management, Fitness, Outdoor Leadership, Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics Support) Beauty and Salon Services. Join Holmesglen as a Sport & Recreation Teacher and play a key role in delivering high‑quality, industry‑relevant training that prepares students for real‑world success. You’ll design and deliver engaging, inclusive learning experiences across sports development programs, ensuring training and assessment meets national standards. Working closely with industry partners, you’ll help keep course content current, practical, and aligned to sector needs. From supporting student enquiries through to teaching, assessment, and progression, you’ll manage the full learning journey—empowering students to build the skills, confidence, and capabilities needed to thrive in the sport and recreation industry. As a Sports & Recreation Teacher, you will:
- Design and Deliver Quality Education: Develop innovative teaching resources and assessment tools and deliver training that meets the standards of Registered Training Organisations, Training Packages, and Holmesglen procedures, ensuring all outcomes align with contractual and funding agreements.
- Curriculum and Assessment Development: Create, implement, and continually improve curriculum and assessment strategies that support diverse learner needs, using appropriate methodologies to maximise student engagement and achievement.
- Student Support and Progress Monitoring: Provide tailored educational support, advice, and feedback to students to foster progression, autonomy, and independent learning and making necessary adjustments in response to identified needs through pre‑training reviews.
- Industry Engagement and Workplace Training: Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry partners, employers, and community organisations to ensure training is contemporary, relevant, and aligns with industry and client requirements.
- Professional Conduct and Compliance: Maintain currency in vocational competencies and educational practice through ongoing professional development, and ensure compliance with Holmesglen policies, legislative regulations, and Child Safety Standards. To be successful, you’ll have:
- An approved degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant vocational area, or approved equivalent qualifications, at least to the level being delivered and assessed; and
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40122 or TAE40116 or TAE40110) or its successor; or
- An approved diploma or higher‑level qualification in adult education or vocational education and training; or
- A secondary teaching qualification and one of the following credentials:
- TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set,
- TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor,
- TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor.
- Current licences necessary to practice, or registration and/or membership of a relevant industry association where applicable.
- WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
