Security SME (Infrastructure / Cloud / Operations) 6-Month Contract | Melbourne About the Client Join a large enterprise organisation supporting critical national infrastructure, operating in a highly secure, high-availability environment. This organisation manages complex platforms that require strong security, reliability, and operational excellence. About the Role An exciting opportunity exists for a hands-on Security SME to play a key role in maintaining and improving security across a complex, production setting. This is a highly operational role, ideal for someone with strong experience in real-world security operations, infrastructure, and cloud platforms. You’ll be working across Windows, Linux, networking, and Azure, supporting both BAU operations and incident response. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the go-to SME for security across infrastructure, cloud, and operations
- Manage and support Windows SOE, Linux systems, and cloud environments
- Perform platform hardening, patching, and operational support
- Provide hands-on support for BAU operations and incident response
- Troubleshoot end-to-end network issues, from connectivity to identity and security faults
- Administer and secure Linux environments, including access control and troubleshooting
- Manage and maintain Microsoft GSA configurations and policies
- Support and secure Azure tenants and cloud infrastructure
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues properly and improve systems
- Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Key Requirements
- Strong experience working in fast-paced, operational environments
- Solid hands-on expertise in Linux administration and security
- Proven background in security operations and support
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting
- Experience with Microsoft GSA
- Hands-on experience managing Azure tenants
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, particularly identity and access controls
- Ability to manage incidents, escalations, and complex operational challenges Nice to Have
- Experience with Cisco Web Security Appliance (WSA) or Web Application Firewalls
- Experience with Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA)
- Exposure to critical infrastructure environments
