Associate Structural Engineer (Melbourne)

This established engineering consultancy has built a strong reputation for technical excellence, practical design thinking and high-quality project delivery across the Victorian buildings market. With continued growth across a diverse project portfolio, the business is now looking to appoint a Associate Structural Engineer to play a key role in technical leadership, project delivery and team development. Working closely with the Directors, this position will suit an experienced structural engineer who enjoys being technically hands-on while also taking ownership of project outcomes, mentoring staff and contributing to the continued growth of the business. The consultancy works across a broad range of building projects for both public and private sector clients, including commercial, residential, education, institutional and industrial developments. Project values vary from smaller-scale building works through to major projects exceeding $60 million. In this leadership role, you will act as a senior technical authority within the business, providing guidance to engineers and modellers while overseeing the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects. Responsibilities
- Technical management of structural engineering projects
- Oversight and coordination of design and documentation
- Mentoring and development of junior engineers and modellers
- Supporting Directors with project strategy and design solutions
- Managing project budgets, deliverables and timeframes
- Reviewing and signing off project documentation
- Liaising with clients, architects, builders and project stakeholders
- Undertaking site inspections, investigations and construction-phase support Qualifications
- A recognised degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- PE(Vic) registration
- Approximately 12+ years’ experience in a consulting engineering environment
- Strong experience in the design and analysis of medium to large-scale building projects
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC requirements and relevant design codes
- Proven ability to mentor and guide engineering staff
- Solid commercial awareness and project delivery capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills This is a key senior appointment and would suit either an established Associate Structural Engineer or an experienced Senior Structural Engineer ready to step into a broader leadership role.
