Role Overview

The Senior Security Risk Specialist supports nbn's commitment to safeguarding its people, information, and physical assets. The role shapes how security risk is identified, assessed, and reported across nbn, providing independent challenge while supporting effective risk treatment. Operating across Line 1 and Line 2 functions, the role delivers independent oversight and challenge while supporting teams to uplift their security risk maturity. It assesses the maturity and effectiveness of security controls, guides business units in developing treatment plans, and ensures risks are managed within agreed tolerances. Collaboration is key: close engagement with internal teams and external partners aligns assurance activities with nbn's security policies and standards. The position also supports strategic planning, contributes to governance reporting, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement in security assurance practices.

Candidate Profile

Strong analytical capability and confidence in assessing control effectiveness

Ability to identify gaps and constructively challenge risk positions

Background in telecommunications or infrastructure is beneficial

Clear communication of complex concepts across diverse stakeholder groups

Effective working within a matrixed environment and contribution to strategic outcomes

Commitment to building collaborative relationships and driving positive change
