We specialise in practical, delivery-focused engineering across the full project lifecycle—from concept and studies through FEED, detailed design, procurement support, construction, and commissioning. Due to continued growth in our project pipeline, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Melbourne team. About the Role This is a senior engineering role within an EPCM consultancy environment, responsible for delivering electrical engineering design across studies, FEED, and detailed design phases for mining and mineral processing projects. You will take ownership of electrical scope development and delivery, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, and project execution. This role is best suited to an engineer who has worked end-to-end on mining or heavy industry projects in a consultancy environment. Responsibilities Electrical Engineering Design Delivery Lead electrical engineering design across studies, FEED, and detailed design phases Develop and review key deliverables including: Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) Load lists and power demand calculations Cable schedules and cable sizing Electrical layouts and design documentation Technical specifications and reports Ensure designs are fit-for-purpose and aligned with project maturity and scope Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and relevant industry codes Electrical Systems & Technical Development Develop power distribution concepts for LV and MV systems Perform electrical engineering calculations (load flow, sizing, preliminary studies as required) Support protection and coordination concepts (where applicable) Provide technical input into design optimisation and constructability Interface & Project Integration Work within multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, structural, process, and controls) Manage technical interfaces across disciplines Provide input into project planning, engineering execution strategies, and risk assessments Support preparation of RFQs and technical documentation Assist in technical evaluation of vendor submissions Provide engineering support during procurement and fabrication phases Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases Respond to technical queries (RFIs, site queries) Support as-built and handover documentation Technical Leadership Provide guidance to junior engineers and designers Review and check engineering deliverables prepared by others Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices Qualifications Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering 8–15+ years' experience in electrical engineering within mining, mineral processing, or heavy industry Required Skills Strong background in consultancy/EPCM environment (studies through detailed design) SLDs Load lists Solid understanding of LV/MV power systems design Familiarity with Australian Standards and mining industry practices Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams Preferred Skills Exposure to instrumentation/control systems (PLC/SCADA awareness, not required as core skill) Pay range and compensation package Location & Work Based in Melbourne, VIC.
