- $173,931 pa Level C plus 17% superannuation Position Description: Senior Research Fellow SPRINT Opportunity: An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced clinician researcher, epidemiologist or critical care researcher to join the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) within Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Working at the forefront of respiratory surveillance and intensive care research, you will play a key leadership role in the nationally significant SPRINT-SARI Australia program. SPRINT‑SARI Australia delivers near real‑time surveillance of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) patients admitted to intensive care units across Australia, providing highly granular national data that informs pandemic preparedness, public health response and critical care decision‑making. The program contributes directly to national surveillance initiatives and supports key Australian Government public health priorities. As Senior Research Fellow, you will make an independent and influential contribution to respiratory infection and critical care research while helping shape the future direction of large‑scale surveillance and research initiatives. Embedded within ANZIC‑RC at the Alfred Hospital precinct, you will collaborate with leading clinicians, researchers, government stakeholders and ICU networks across Australia and New Zealand.
- Lead and contribute to nationally impactful research projects
- Work with large‑scale ICU surveillance datasets and public health initiatives
- Drive clinical trial methodology, research design and data interpretation
- Develop competitive grant applications and high‑impact publications
- Strengthen national and international research collaborations
- Contribute to research leadership and capability building within a globally recognised research environment Qualifications:
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline
- A strong record of peer‑reviewed publications and research outputs
- Success in securing external research funding or contributing to competitive grant applications
- Experience leading or mentoring research staff and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Robust organisational and project management capability
- Experience working in acute care, ICU, infectious diseases or related clinical environments Experience working with registries, surveillance systems, linked datasets or public health research initiatives will be highly regarded.
