Description
Senior Prison Officer (Locksmith) Maintenance and repair all locking devices and the security and safe storage of all keys across Department of Justice and Community Safety facilities statewide. Ongoing, full‑time chance to work with a high‑performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service. About the Division The Security and Intelligence Division and Security Standards Unit (SSU) manage various security functions, including security risk management, electronic monitoring, emergency response, and statewide locksmith services. The Locksmith Services team handles planning, maintenance, and installation of locks, keys, and related hardware, as well as administration of the CV and Youth Justice restricted key and lock system. You Will
- Perform specialised locksmith duties including repair, maintenance, and installation of locking systems.
- Manage complex master key systems, inventories, and restricted key controls.
- Maintain accurate documentation including door schedules, plans, and compliance records.
- Support secure disposal of sensitive equipment and uphold strict security protocols.
- Provide expert advice, training, and project support to internal stakeholders. About You You must have completed, or be willing to complete, the Victorian Prison Officer Pre‑Service Training, hold a current driver’s licence, and be able to obtain a Working with Children Check. A formal locksmith qualification is highly desirable. You Should Also Have
- Strong technical expertise in prison locking systems and locksmith industry practices.
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking in complex environments.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Proven adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement. Qualifications
- Completion of the Victorian Prison Officer Pre‑Service Training, or training in an equivalent jurisdiction, or the ability to undertake and complete the Pre‑Service Training.
- A current Locksmith qualification would be highly desirable.
- A current Victorian Driver’s licence is required.
- A current Working with Children’s Check, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
