Trainee Technology Facilities Engineer - Contract (Melbourne)

An exciting prospect has become available at one of our clients who is looking for a budding IT Network enthusiast to engage as a Trainee IT Facilities Engineer and participate in a 1-year infrastructure project. This role will support a major CableSolve upgrade, involving auditing the client's data cabling network and maintaining accurate records within the CableSolve system for planning and management purposes. This is a hands‑on, part‑time role, based in the Western suburbs, Melbourne, ideally suited to a graduate, university student, or early‑career network professional looking to gain real‑world experience in a large, complex environment. Key Responsibilities
- Audit and document the existing data cabling infrastructure across airport terminals.
- Capture and maintain accurate records in the CableSolve system.
- Work in office conducting physical inspections of cabling and network assets.
- Spend part of each day supporting BAU activities, including fault investigation.
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to contractors in office.
- Collaborate closely with the facilities and network teams. Key Experience
- Studying towards, or recently completed, a qualification in IT, Networking or Engineering.
- Background or strong interest in network engineering or infrastructure.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and willing to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
- Comfortable working on‑site and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
- Available to commit 3–5 days per week, depending on deliverables, over the term of the project. What's on Offer
