- Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills, initiative and the ability to work independently Role The Secondary Teacher Assistant (STA) will perform a number of duties in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy. The STA will be based in one of the College's four Houses and will be linked to a Leading Teacher who will supervise and monitor their work. The Secondary Teacher Assistant is required to: Responsibilities
- Checking homegroup rolls daily to ensure they are maintained correctly.
- Contacting parents to ascertain whether a student absence is approved.
- Preparing reports for Homegroup teachers and House coordinators to facilitate the follow‑up of student absences.
- Issuing late passes, early leaver passes and uniform passes when a coordinator is not present.
- Answering and attending to phone and general enquiries to the House.
- Directing students to appropriate assistance, especially in the absence of coordinators.
- Word‑processing, filing and photocopying of House documents and resources.
- Ordering supplies and requisites.
- Assisting in the organising of House events such as graduations and parent information evenings.
- Creating student appointments with the school psychologist.
- Providing Year 10 and 11 exam support.
- Producing certificates for student award ceremonies.
- Supporting the VHAP coordinator.
- Performing other duties appropriate to the classification to assist in the effective delivery of services. Whole School Support In addition to house duties, the STA will perform tasks that support the wider school community, including:
- Creating student appointments with the school psychologist.
- Year 10 and 11 exam support.
- Producing certificates for student award ceremonies.
- Supporting the VHAP coordinator.
- Assisting where required to achieve effective service delivery across the school.
