Java Developer - Financial Services (Melbourne)

Who We Are Looking For DWS is partnering with a leading investment and financial services organisation to hire a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team building large-scale, event-driven systems. This role is ideal for someone with a strong financial services background, spanning areas such as investment management, wealth, markets, or trading environments, who thrives in high-volume, real-time platforms and enjoys owning services end-to-end. You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering resilient microservices that support critical financial systems operating within a regulated environment. - Strong, hands‑on experience designing and developing Java microservices using Spring Boot
- Proven background working in banking or core financial services environments
- Substantial experience building event‑driven architectures using Kafka
- Expertise developing RESTful APIs for complex internal and external integrations
- End‑to‑end ownership across design, build, deployment and production support
- Robust automated testing practices including unit and integration testing
- Experience tuning performance, resilience, and system observability
- Confidence contributing to technical design discussions and mentoring engineers
- Experience deploying to AWS container platforms with modern CI/CD pipelines
