Research Officer, Genomic Epidemiology in Malaria – Full Time (1.0 FTE) Role type: Full Time; research contingent. Faculty: Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Department: Department of Microbiology & Immunology. Salary: Level A $87,266 – $118,416 p.a. or Level B $124,656 – $148,023 p.a. plus 17% super. What you will deliver
- Lead and deliver genomic surveillance and population genetics research on malaria for a multidisciplinary international team.
- Design, plan and execute genomic epidemiology experiments and analyses to meet project timelines.
- Analyse sequencing and epidemiological data; maintain detailed records and report results.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and drafting competitive grant applications.
- Mentor students and junior staff; present at meetings and conferences; support laboratory documentation, ethics/OGTR compliance and OH&S; responsibilities. You may be a excellent fit if
- PhD in genomics, bioinformatics, genomic epidemiology, molecular ecology or a closely related discipline.
- Experienced genomic epidemiologist, molecular ecologist, or bioinformatician with hands‑on sequencing analysis skills.
- Solid population genetics and statistical analysis experience applied to pathogen genomic data, especially Plasmodium spp.
- Collaborative, self‑driven, able to lead projects with minimal supervision while supporting team objectives.
- Proven track record in preparing manuscripts, presenting at conferences and contributing to grant applications.
