Senior High Voltage Electrical Engineer (Melbourne)

- Flexible working and 5 weeks annual leave The Position We are seeking a hands‑on HV Electrical Engineer to join our VIC Electrical team. This role is delivery‑focused and suited to an engineer who enjoys technical delivery of high‑voltage / medium‑voltage projects, and undertaking the interfacing connections with utility providers. Reporting to the Section Manager, you will work within a small team, offering your specialist HV capability to the team and support the broader electrical project teams across the business. The role supports a growing portfolio of mission‑critical, health, defense, and large‑scale infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to lead technical solutions in HV/MV systems while working on some of the most complex projects in the market. This role can be based in Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney. What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering HV / MV electrical design and documentation across a range of projects
- Designing and contributing to:
- HV / MV networks (typically 11kV–33kV )
- Substations and private HV reticulation for client sites
- Transformers, RMUs, HV switchboards
- HV generators and distribution systems
- Preparing and contributing to:
- Feasibility studies
- Business cases
- Technical reports and design documentation
- Systems modelling and calculations
- Using industry‑standard power systems software to complete studies and design
- Supporting multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Providing technical input across mission‑critical (data centers), hospitals, defense facilities, and complex commercial projects
- Engage with Electrical supply authority regarding the connection to sites and co‑ordinate interfacing infrastructure for HV customers. Who We’re Looking For
- A technical “doer”, but able to effectively communicate and engage with external stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently and within a small specialist team
- Willing and able to support other electrical teams as required Technical Requirements
- Proven experience in High Voltage / Medium Voltage electrical design
- Strong working knowledge of AS 2067
- Demonstrated experience in earth grid design
- Competency in power systems software, including:
- SKM Power Tools
- Ability to contribute designs through all phases of a project design cycle. E.g. Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design and beyond
- Experience across mission‑critical projects (or similar complex infrastructure) highly regarded Communication & Ways of Working
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing technical documentation, feasibility studies, and business cases
- Team-oriented team player who communicates clearly with engineers, clients, and consultants
- Comfortable working within a nationally distributed team environment Your Background
- Degree‑qualified Electrical Engineer
- Experience across the full project lifecycle in building services or major infrastructure
- Experience in sectors such as:
- Mission critical / data centers
- Health
- Defense
- Large commercial or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of Australian Standards and codes relevant to HV/MV design
