PhD Scholarship Opportunity: Monash University Accident Research Centre – Driver Health Study Job No.: 694390 Location: Clayton campus Employment Type: Full-time Department/Unit: Monash University Accident Research Centre Duration: 3.5 years fixed‑term appointment Remuneration: $40,000 per annum tax‑free stipend (full‑time rate) We are seeking an exceptionally talented domestic candidate to undertake a PhD at MUARC, investigating the long‑term health and wellbeing of Australia’s truck drivers. The successful applicant will receive full funding and will lead the expansion of the Driver Health Survey (), a national initiative aimed at understanding qualified drivers’ health and wellbeing across Australia. This expansion will be branded as the NTARC Driving Health Scholarship and is expected to inform industry policy, workplace practices and road safety strategies nationwide. The PhD will be supervised by Associate Professor Sjaan Koppel, a leading expert in road safety, driver health, and injury prevention. Candidate Requirements
- Relevant Honours or Masters degree with H1 or equivalent;
- Eligibility for PhD candidature at Monash University;
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship (or permanent residence) and currently residing in Australia;
- Interest in injury prevention research and in health data analysis and statistics;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong planning, organisation and time‑management skills to meet deadlines;
- Analytical thinking, data analysis and critical problem‑solving skills.
