Senior Consultant, Financial Advisory (Melbourne)

Teneo’s global Financial Advisory business advises corporates, creditors and other financial stakeholders in situations of financial stress and distress. Our tailored approach helps clients to restore value, raise new capital, pivot direction and identify certainty amidst chaos. Integrating financial advisory, management consulting, investor relations, strategic communications, government affairs, risk analysis and talent advisory, Teneo’s global Financial Advisory team guides companies and their stakeholders through periods of uncertainty and stress, delivering certainty from uncertainty. On 1 September 2025, Teneo acquired PwC Australia’s Business Restructuring Service team. Our 80+ strong Australian team includes 18 Senior Managing Directors and Managing Directors, located across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Role As a Senior Consultant you will support the leadership team with:
- Client Service – Participate in diverse, challenging engagements, advising corporates, creditors and other financial stakeholders on Restructuring Advisory, Contingency Planning and Insolvency projects.
- Business Development – Support business development activities and generate sales in the market.
- People and Leadership – Provide guidance to team members to create an inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities Client Service
- Key team member on financial restructuring and insolvency engagements, managing junior staff.
- Produce high‑quality deliverables within planned timescales.
- Develop distinctive client relationships and contribute to presentations.
- Meet team performance targets and apply engagement economics and quality management. Knowledge Acquisition
- Build client relationship skills, sector knowledge and leadership skills.
- Develop technical expertise and broader business advisory capabilities.
- Understand market trends, topical issues and our Restructuring propositions. People and Leadership
- Support inclusive environment and provide timely feedback and mentoring to colleagues.
- Develop personal brand and promote collective success. Business Development
- Own elements of business development and proactively contribute to initiatives.
- Expand network of peer contacts for opportunities and idea exchange.
- Assist in sector or marketing key account teams, including event organization.
- Prepare research documents, pitches and client presentations. Key Skills & Experience
- Strong academic background to degree level.
- Qualified CA or commitment to completing the CA program.
- Analytical with strong IT skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
- Knowledge of Restructuring Services/Insolvency from direct experience or transferable skills in a professional services role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for high‑performance teamwork.
- Commitment to work under pressure and long hours, client‑centred focus.
