Employment type: Full time, Permanent & Fixed Term position until 3 December **** Hours per week: 38 Remuneration: Band 5 salary from $86,****** per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO Location: Hoppers Crossing. This role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality. About the role Wyndham City Youth Services is committed to making a positive difference to the lives of the young people in one of the fastest growing municipalities in Victoria. We are seeking a Youth Response & Mobilisation Officer to lead the development and delivery of youth-focused programs, initiatives and responses that support young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study or recreate in Wyndham. Working within a culturally protected, trauma-informed early intervention and prevention framework, you will create opportunities for meaningful youth participation through leadership groups, events and community-based programs. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan, deliver and evaluate developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive initiatives, including coordinated responses to critical incidents impacting young people and the broader community. The role also provides generalist early intervention support to young people and their families, including information provision, brief intervention, crisis coordination and referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate support pathways. What your day will look like
- Design, deliver and evaluate youth programs, projects and services that support young people and families across Wyndham.
- Work closely with schools, community organisations, specialist services and local stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for young people.
- Provide early intervention support, information, referrals and brief case coordination to young people and families.
- Plan and facilitate place-based and municipality-wide youth initiatives using strengths-based and ethical youth work practices.
- Engage directly with young people through events, outreach and participation activities that encourage connection and inclusion.
- Respond collaboratively to community and critical incidents impacting young people, alongside internal and external partners.
- Support young people to have a genuine voice in programs, services and decision-making processes. What you will bring
- Degree or diploma course in Youth Work, Community Development, Social Work or related discipline with little or no relevant work experience or lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills, or relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience working within adolescent development, group work, youth participation and community development frameworks.
- Experience in developing, delivering, evaluating and reporting on programs and services for young people.
- A strong understanding of cultural diversity, with the ability to work in culturally safe and inclusive ways that respect and respond to community needs.
- Experience supporting the wellbeing, safety and inclusion of diverse young people, including First Nations young people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTIQA+ young people, young people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, those with disability, and young people impacted by alcohol and other drug use.
- Knowledge and experience implementing best practice service delivery in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Privacy Information Act, Health Records Act, and the Children Youth and Family Act, YACVic Code of Ethical Practices, Child Safe Standards, and policies of Council and procedures of the Youth Services Team.
- A current employee Working with Children’s Check.
- A current Victorian driver’s licence.
