Principal Engineer (Melbourne)

Nuage is working with an established Australian consultancy that has built a strong reputation delivering enterprise data programmes across the country. Off the back of that, they are now investing heavily into a modern data and AI capability, with a clear focus on building out a best‑in‑class offering across Databricks, Snowflake and Google Cloud. This role sits right in the middle of that growth. They are looking for a hands‑on Principal Consultant to come in and help shape this next phase. This is not a conceptual architecture position. You'll be expected to stay close to the tools, building and delivering alongside the team, while also working directly with clients to define problems, design solutions and guide delivery. It's a true consulting role where your ability to operate in ambiguity, communicate clearly and bring structure to problems is just as important as your technical capability. From a technical standpoint, the environment is centred around Databricks, Snowflake and BigQuery, with dbt playing a key role in how they approach transformation and modelling. There is also some exposure to Azure and Microsoft Fabric due to existing partnerships, but the focus is on building flexible, platform‑agnostic data solutions rather than being tied to one ecosystem. - Robust hands‑on data engineering background, ideally across Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery
- Proven ability to work in client‑facing or consulting environments
- Strong understanding of up-to-date data stack principles, including dbt and scalable pipeline design
