Quality Engineering Architect (Melbourne)

We partner with organisations to uplift testing capability, design scalable automation solutions, and embed modern QE practices across complex delivery environments. The Opportunity We’re looking for a Quality Engineering Architect / Test Automation Architect to join a key client engagement. This is not a pure hands‑on automation role — we’re looking for someone who can design, shape, and uplift automation capability, while still being technically credible. You’ll work closely with engineering and delivery teams to define what valuable looks like, and lead the approach to get there. Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive automation strategy across programs and teams
- Design and implement scalable test automation frameworks
- Translate business and functional requirements into automation architecture
- Uplift existing automation capability and introduce best practices
- Work across UI, API, and integration layers
- Embed automation into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps environments
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to QE and engineering teams
- Drive continuous improvement and quality maturity Skills & Experience (Required)
- Proven experience in a QE Architect / Automation Architect / Senior Automation Lead role
- Strong experience designing and building:
- Experience across:
- API testing, UI automation, and integration testing
- Strong understanding of:
- CI/CD, DevOps, and modern delivery practices
- Experience working across multiple teams / programs
- Ability to translate strategy into practical implementation What We’re Looking For
- A strong technical foundation (not just leadership)
- Someone with an “architecture mindset” — able to design solutions, not just execute
- Clear opinion on best practice and how to achieve it
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to take initiative and lead from the front Nice to Have
- Experience building or scaling automation accelerators / reusable frameworks
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS / Azure / GCP)
