Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologists to join the Nuclear Medicine team. Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg. About the Role Nuclear Medicine technologists are responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using unsealed sources of radioactivity in both Nuclear Medicine and PET. Additional duties include gamma camera and PET scanner quality control, and radiopharmacy. This position is fixed term full time with monthly Accrued Days Off
- covering maternity leave. Key Responsibilities
- Participation in the general roster of duties in both the nuclear medicine and PET/CT departments.
- Operation of SPECT/CT gamma cameras, PET/CT scanner and other equipment across the department.
- General radiopharmacy duties including ordering, preparation, quality control, dispensing and administration of radiopharmaceuticals in NM.
- PET radiopharmacy duties: ordering, preparation and dispensing of PET tracers.
- Exercising safe radiation practices with respect to administration and disposal of radioactive materials.
- In conjunction with booking staff, develop procedures (for NMTs) to ensure all PET and NM referrals are processed and patients provided with timely bookings and relevant instructions.
- Providing quality patient care.
- Working collaboratively in a close-knit team. Qualifications and Skills
- Sound knowledge of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT principles and practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment and foster positive work culture.
- Dedication to best patient care and providing high quality imaging services.
- Excellent communication skills.
