Title Nuclear Safety Case Engineer Overview KBR’s Infrastructure Solutions business employs over 1,400 people across Australia. The company is known for its collaborative culture and a strong record of project delivery. This role is part of a nation‑building engineering programme that supports the development of Australia’s first nuclear‑powered submarines. The Opportunity Under the AUKUS Pillar 1 initiative, Australia is moving toward acquiring and operating a fleet of conventionally armed, nuclear‑powered submarines (NPS). Delivering that capability safely requires world‑class nuclear safety expertise, which this role provides by working directly with government and defence stakeholders to develop nuclear safety‑informed design processes for naval nuclear facilities and infrastructure. What You Will Do
- Lead and contribute to nuclear safety cases for complex naval nuclear infrastructure
- Apply deterministic safety analysis methodologies to generate safety requirements and inform the design process
- Engage with licensing and regulatory frameworks governing nuclear‑powered naval operations
- Produce and review technical design substantiation documentation to the standard demanded by nuclear regulation
- Mentor and develop the next generation of Australian NSQEP What We Offer Structured development, geographic flexibility across major Australian cities, and the chance to work on a highly significant national programme. Essential Qualifications
- Established experience in safety‑informed design, deterministic safety analysis, regulation and licensing, and technical design substantiation
- Engineering degree or equivalent relevant qualification
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in high‑hazard industries operating under formal regulatory regimes
- Direct experience with nuclear‑powered submarine programmes
- Involvement in the delivery of nuclear facilities or infrastructure
- Background in Defence project delivery Benefits
