Description
Technical Leadership Role | Landmark Infrastructure Project | Melbourne We have an exciting prospect for an experienced and driven Design Manager to join a newly established project team delivering one of the most significant infrastructure developments currently underway in Australia. Reporting to the Delivery Director, you will lead the design process from concept through to Issued for Construction (IFC) status on a multi-billion dollar Design & Construct project. Working at the interface between the Principal's technical advisors and the Contractor's design team, your focus will be on delivering timely, accurate and compliant design approvals that keep the project moving. This is a hands‑on, project office‑based role where your technical depth and design management experience will be front and centre. What you'll be doing:
- Leading design management across all packages, both temporary and permanent works, through review and approval workflows
- Chairing and attending design management meetings, maintaining schedules, records and progress tracking
- Managing RFIs, design change requests, NCRs and other Contractor‑raised issues with timely, accurate responses
- Coordinating with technical advisors and external approvers to ensure compliant and timely sign‑off
- Flagging key issues, departures and approval delays through structured project reporting
- Supporting document control and driving the application of digital engineering systems including BIM, GIS and 4D platforms
- Liaising with operations teams on completions, defect management and certification close‑out What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in Design Management roles across the full lifecycle of major civil infrastructure projects
- Strong technical grounding across earthworks, geotechnical, pavements, and civil systems
- Familiarity with Australian Standards and relevant regulatory frameworks
- Experience with document collaboration platforms and a solid understanding of Digital Engineering processes
- Aviation or airfield design experience is a plus, but comparable major infrastructure experience is equally valued
- The ability to work collaboratively across technical, commercial and operational teams in a fast‑paced project environment What's on offer:
- A genuine technical leadership role at the heart of a landmark Australian project
- Project office‑based with a collaborative, high‑performance team culture
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements
- Competitive remuneration and a comprehensive benefits package
- Strong long‑term career and professional development pathways #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3rtz9v
