Yard Assistant/forklift – To $40ph + Super – On Going Temp …, Melbourne

Established globally for 30 years and having a robust reputation in the market, our client who specialise in container hire & sales and refrigerated storage is looking for an experience High Reach Forklift Drive and Yard Assistant for their Melbourne office West of the CBD. Our client is backed with more than 25 years’ successful years worldwide and is a growing name in the local market. This is an on-going temp role, and its focus is to provide support in the Yard along with High Reach Forklift responsibilities. Your duties will include:
- Safely operate a forklift to load and unload containers (excluding contents) across the site. Stack and unstack items in both confined and open areas. Perform additional tasks as directed by the Manager.
- Accurately assess distances and positioning between the forklift and surrounding objects to ensure protected manoeuvring.
- Conduct visual inspections using gauges, instruments, and computerized systems to monitor equipment performance. Identify signs of wear or damage and report issues promptly.
- General administration related to yard.
- Record container numbers and manage gate entry/exit logs.
- Wash containers as part of routine upkeep.
- Assist with basic maintenance and minor repairs when possible.
- Perform general yard duties, including cleanliness and upkeep.
- Ad Hoc Tasks: Support additional duties as needed to ensure smooth site operations. You will need:
- High Reach Forklift operator confident up to four stacks.
- Ideally with large forklift in tight setting.
- Experience with containers ideal.
- Be hands on and able to use basic tools to clean.
- Attention to detail and explicit communication.
- Solid work ethic.
- Driver License.
