Role The Learning Enhancement support worker works as part of the school's Learning Enhancement Team, providing targeted support and extension. This includes assisting teachers in implementing differentiated, evidence-based teaching strategies and supporting students to engage successfully with the curriculum. The role involves collaboration with classroom teachers, intervention staff, Teachers of the Deaf, and wellbeing personnel, ensuring that all students have equitable access to learning and that adjustments are implemented effectively. The role will also involve supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH), including students who use Auslan and assistive hearing technologies, in collaboration with Teachers of the Deaf and classroom teachers. Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and Learning Enhancement staff to support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs), SSGs, and adjustments for students requiring additional support.
- Provide small group or individual support to students to reinforce learning, following teacher direction and evidence-informed intervention programs.
- Support deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) students in classroom, small group, social learning settings under the guidance of classroom teachers and Teachers of the Deaf.
- Use basic to intermediate Auslan skills, visual supports, and inclusive communication strategies to enhance student engagement, participation, and wellbeing.
- Assist students to effectively use assistive listening devices, FM systems, Soundfield systems, and other communication technologies where required.
- Support the implementation of communication and language goals developed in collaboration with Teachers of the Deaf, Speech Pathologists, and allied health professionals.
- Support the delivery of targeted literacy and numeracy intervention and extension aligned with Brighton Primary School's approach to teaching and learning.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the Learning Enhancement Team.
- Assist in preparing learning materials, visual supports, and differentiated resources.
- Foster student independence, confidence, and engagement through positive reinforcement and structured support.
- Support communication and collaboration between classroom teachers, parents, and specialist staff.
- Contribute to the creation of an inclusive, calm, and safe learning environment that promotes wellbeing and positive behaviour.
- Provide personal care and health support (e.g., toileting, mealtime assistance, mobility support) when required, following appropriate training and protocols.
- Participate in professional learning and reflective practice to continually enhance knowledge and skills in supporting diverse learners.
