Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Business Development Manager role based in Melbourne, VIC, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Business Development Manager will identify and qualify recent business opportunities, build and maintain a strong sales pipeline, and convert prospects into long-term customers across refrigerated, frozen, and general freight services. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting client meetings, preparing tailored proposals and pricing structures, and negotiating commercial agreements that align with MFLC’s service capabilities. The role will collaborate closely with operations, customer service, and leadership teams to ensure service delivery aligns with customer expectations and to identify opportunities for upselling and cross‑selling. The Business Development Manager will also monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to refine go‑to‑market strategies and support continuous improvement in sales processes and customer experience. Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within freight, logistics, transport, or supply chain.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop tailored pricing, interpret margins, and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Comfort with CRM tools, sales reporting, and technology‑driven logistics platforms (e.g., live tracking and operational visibility systems).
- Ability to work independently, manage a sales pipeline, prioritize opportunities, and meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Knowledge of Australian freight networks (particularly VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD, and SA) and cold chain operations is highly regarded.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
