Description
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality water treatment solutions across Australia and the APAC region. Based in Melbourne, this role will play a key part in leading commissioning activities, driving process optimisation, and ensuring a seamless transition from project delivery through to operations. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position, reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will contribute to projects across Australia and APAC, with travel required for site-based commissioning, including occasional trips of up to three weeks. If you thrive in a hands‑on engineering environment, enjoy solving complex problems on‑site, and are motivated by working across a diverse portfolio of water treatment projects, this role offers an exciting chance to make a meaningful impact. Key Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities for water treatment plants and support site start‑ups.
- Troubleshoot process issues and optimise plant performance.
- Prepare operational documentation and deliver training to site teams.
- Support process design (PFDs, P&IDs;, equipment sizing and technical documents).
- Assist with project scoping, cost estimates and technical reviews.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Who are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or working towards it.
- Valid driver’s licence and flexibility to travel across Australia and APAC.
- Strong understanding of water or wastewater treatment processes.
- Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting and site‑based engineering.
- Ability to interpret and prepare PFDs, P&IDs; and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills, including operator training and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently on site with sound problem‑solving skills.
- Competent in preparing technical reports, commissioning plans and operational documentation.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced project environments with occasional travel. Benefits at IXOM For a start, you’ll work for a large global organisation, where you’ll not only earn a competitive salary, but you’ll also have access to an Employee Assistance Program, a recognition program, and a range of health and wellness benefits and discounts. Our wellbeing program is second to none, and we offer a range of education assistance and learning resources, as well as secondment and promotion opportunities to help you grow both personally and professionally. We support what’s important to you by promoting workplace giving, diversity and providing volunteering leave, and, of course, we offer flexible working wherever possible. #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3rvfpx
