Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – Autonomous Aerial Robot for Agriculture

The Technology Innovation Hub (TiHAN) has funded a project under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber‑Physical Systems (NM‑ICPS) for the development of an Autonomous Aerial Robotic System for Harvesting (AARSHa) of coconuts. The role involves working with a multirotor drone platform, designing necessary attachments, and testing the system in laboratory and real farm environments.

Project Details

Number of positions: 02

Duration: 18 months

Institutional policy: Candidates meeting institute criteria may be admitted to Ph.D. programmes.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and test the multirotor (drone) platform and harvesting attachments.

Integrate sensors, actuators, and motion generation components for robotic operation.

Develop and validate control, kinematics, and dynamics algorithms.

Implement image‑processing and SLAM modules for autonomous navigation.

Qualifications

Essential: M.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics & Communications, Robotics, or embedded systems.

B.Tech holders with robust knowledge in the required fields will also be considered.

Desired Skillset

Experience in flying, building, and testing multirotor drones.

Experience in sensor integration, actuator control, and motion generation for robots.

Programming in MATLAB & Simulink / Python / C / C++.

Knowledge of robot kinematics and dynamics.

Experience in image processing and SLAM (additional advantage).

Salary

CTC 4 to 5 lakhs per annum.
