Are you an experienced industry professional ready to pass on your knowledge and shape the next generation of Conservation, Landscaping and Horticulture workers? We are establishing a 12-month appointment pool for vacancies that may arise. We may offer permanent, fixed term, full time, part time or casual appointments, with the possibility of a further term and/or permanency. About the Roles We are seeking candidates with experience and expertise in Conservation and Land Management, Landscape Construction and/or Horticulture to plan, develop and deliver training and assessment to students in these study areas. The primary role of a Lecturer is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake Professional Activities and Activities Related to Delivery. To maintain high quality educational services, lecturers are expected to remain current with technological, industry and skilled developments, and to provide up to date advice to the College and industry where appropriate. Relevant Qualification and experience

To be eligible for employment you must hold relevant qualifications and industry experience in the following: Lecturer
- Conservation and Ecosystem Management If you enjoy working in practical, outdoor environments and are passionate about restoring natural landscapes, this area offers a rewarding opportunity. You will support students to develop skills in land and bushland restoration, sustainable land management, plant identification, weed control, , site inspections, secure chemical use, machinery operation, WHS, and working effectively with clients and stakeholders. Requirements:
- Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management; or
- AHC40924 or AHC40920 Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management; or
- AHC31522 or AHC31516 Certificate III in On Country Management with relevant industry experience as outlined below.
- Recent industry experience in working on ground in native ecosystem maintenance, biodiversity monitoring, ecological and cultural site inspections, operating and maintaining chainsaw, and implementing and monitoring environmentally sustainable work practices is essential. Lecturer
- Landscape Construction You will support the development of practical skills in landscape construction and maintenance, parks and gardens, turf management and land rehabilitation. With a strong focus on industry‑current practices and sustainable outcomes, you will help prepare students for employment with landscaping businesses, local councils and conservation organisations. Requirements:
- AHC30921 or AHC30916 Certificate III in Landscape Construction with relevant industry experience as outlined below.
- Recent industry experience in constructing brick and/or block structures, stone features and cladding, drainage systems, paving projects and retaining walls, operating and maintaining chainsaw as well as operating relevant machinery and equipment is essential. You will help develop job ready skills in plant care, nursery operations, pest and disease management, irrigation systems and sustainable horticultural practices, delivering hands‑on training in purpose‑built facilities and real‑world environments. Graduates are prepared for roles across nurseries, parks, local councils and horticultural enterprises. Requirements:
- AHC30722 or AHC30716 Certificate III in Horticulture: AHC40416 or AHC40422 Certificate IV in Horticulture with relevant industry experience outlined below.
- Recent industry experience in in amenity pruning (including shaping and maintaining a range of plant forms), turf management, chemical application with a current spraying licence, operating and maintaining chainsaw, irrigation operations, and safe use of machinery and equipment is essential. There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024). Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however North Metro TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.
