- Part Time We are seeking to establish a pool of Assistant Gardener – Handyperson for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Role Overview As Assistant Gardener – Handyperson, you will work under the guidance of the Senior Assistant Gardener – Handyperson as part of a team responsible for maintaining, improving, and presenting our College grounds and gardens in an attractive, engaging, clean, protected, and tidy condition conducive to learning and playing. Responsibilities
- Maintain turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, trees, soft landscapes, specialty areas such as the Peace Park, kitchen garden, and inclusive play and grow learning areas.
- Maintain hard landscaping features such as courts, paving, marking sports areas, and conduct minor repairs.
- Keep gardening facilities, equipment, tools, and machinery clean and serviceable; report faults promptly and adhere to safe work practices.
- Assist staff with general maintenance, including minor repairs, painting, and moving furniture.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Corporate Services to develop safe work procedures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation and hazardous substances management. Qualifications and Experience
- Background in gardening, landscaping, horticulture, and/or general maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain equipment and apply safe working practices.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in maintaining both soft and hard landscaped areas.
- Demonstrated ability in the practical application and safe use of hand tools. Training and Requirements
- Valid Working With Children Check.
- Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of appointment.
