The Opportunity We’re looking for a Procurement Officer to join our team and support the sourcing, procurement, and ongoing management of raw materials and/or packaging materials across our pharmaceutical and cosmetics portfolios. Working closely with internal stakeholders, this role ensures cost-effective, compliant, and reliable supply of operational consumables while supporting new product development (NPD), operational planning, warehouse coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Procure raw materials and/or packaging materials.
- Review and manage material specifications, and quality standards in collaboration with Sales, NPD, Quality, R&D;, and Operations.
- Support material evaluation, change control, including material substitutions, specification updates, supplier changes, and cost-driven optimisations.
- Source and evaluate new suppliers locally and internationally, ensuring alignment with quality, regulatory, cost, and supply continuity requirements.
- Conduct supplier negotiations covering pricing, contracts, payment terms, lead times, MOQs, and service levels.
- Manage supplier performance, including delivery reliability, quality issues, responsiveness, and cost control.
- Support contract renewals, supplier consolidation initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in NPD projects, supporting packaging selection, supplier engagement, costing, lead-time assessment, and trial coordination.
- Coordinate material samples, trials, and first-article approvals with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor inventory levels to avoid stock-outs, excess stock, or obsolescence.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align material supply with production schedules and promotional activities.
- Manage logistics-related activities for materials, including imports, Incoterms, shipping coordination, and documentation.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant inbound deliveries.
- Support cost optimisation initiatives related to freight, duties, and landed costs.
- Drive cost control and savings initiatives through sourcing strategies, negotiations, specification optimisation, and supplier benchmarking.
- Track pricing trends, cost changes, and savings outcomes. Our ideal candidate
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Pharmaceuticals, Packaging, Engineering, or a related field (Desirable)
- Extensive experience in raw material and/or packaging procurement within pharmaceutical, cosmetics, FMCG, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Proven sourcing and supplier negotiation skills, including international sourcing
- Solid understanding of raw material and/or packaging specifications, change control, and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of GMP-regulated environments and supplier quality requirements
- Ability to interpret raw material and/or packaging specifications and technical files
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of logistics and import processes, including international sourcing.
- Strong cost control and commercial acumen.
- High attention to detail, particularly in specifications, pricing, and documentation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP / MRP systems (e.g. Microsoft Business Central/Navision, SAP, Oracle, Pronto, or similar) is advantageous.
