Head Chef OLC Care Group is seeking enthusiastic full-time Head Chef with a desire to deliver high quality catering services for our residents.

· Safe and pleasant environment Responsibilities Responsible for leading and delivering high-quality food services within an aged care environment, including meal preparation, menu planning, dietary management and kitchen operations to meet residents’ nutritional needs, preferences and clinical requirements. The role ensures safe, efficient and compliant food service delivery through effective supervision of catering staff, stock and budget management, food safety and infection control practices, continuous quality improvement, and collaboration with residents, families, dietitians and the clinical team to enhance the overall dining experience and wellbeing of aged residents. Main tasks
· Prepare, cook and present meals in accordance with dietary requirements, IDDSI guidelines, allergies, intolerances and resident preferences.
· Monitor food intake, weight management plans and fortified meal requirements in collaboration with the clinical and dietitian teams.
· Supervise and support food service assistants to ensure efficient daily kitchen and meal service operations.
· Maintain food supplies, stock rotation, ordering, storage and budget control while minimizing wastage.
· Participate in menu planning, resident feedback processes and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance dining experiences.
· Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, infection control, workplace health and safety, and cleaning standards at all times.
· Maintain accurate documentation, prepare for food safety audits and report maintenance, hazards or compliance concerns promptly.
· Attend required meetings, training and professional development activities to support ongoing compliance and service excellence. About you Qualification requirements
· Tertiary Commercial Cookery and Chef qualification
· Police Check Clearance to work in aged care
· Seasonal Flu Vaccination and COVID-19 Vaccination (as required by PHU)
· Not on a banning order (Minimum Cook Grade A or B – Please confirm whether this refers to Cook Grade 1 or Grade 2 under the relevant Award and amend to the appropriate classification if required. This requirement may be removed if the grading reference is more relevant to salary classification than role requirements or skills.) Experience
· Experience in cooking and running a kitchen in a commercial environment
· Previous experience in aged care is a big plus
· Knowledge of dietary requirements for the elderly Skills
· Ability to prepare and cook a variety of Western and Asian meals, including desserts, to a high standard
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate meal preparation for large groups efficiently
· Sound knowledge and capability to manage food safety programs in line with food authority standards and compliance requirements
· Ability to design and adapt menus to meet diverse dietary, nutritional and texture-modified requirements
· Proven ability to lead, supervise and support catering teams to achieve high-quality service outcomes
· Experience in managing catering budgets, stock control and minimising food wastage effectively
· Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with residents, families and team members
· Strong teamwork and leadership abilities within a fast-paced kitchen and aged care environment
