Role Overview The Tree Management Officer will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the Shire’s tree canopy while managing associated risks. The position involves a holistic approach to assessing tree and bushland‑related applications, conducting inspections, providing accurate technical advice to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards, representing the Council in legal matters, and educating the community about sustainable canopy management practices. Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and inspections of trees and bushland areas to determine compliance with policy and safety requirements.
- Provide technical advice and accurate reports to applicants, council staff, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with planners, engineers, and community groups to integrate tree management into development decisions.
- Represent the Council in legal matters related to tree removal, protection, or risk management.
- Educate the community on sustainable canopy management and risk mitigation. Qualifications
- Degree in Landscape Architecture (or nearing completion) or a Certificate IV in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or an equivalent qualification.
- Class C Driver’s Licence and a NSW OH&S; General Induction White Card. Skills & Competencies
- Demonstrated experience in tree assessment and management.
- Strong negotiation and collaborative problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in PC systems, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication and people skills to foster collaboration and constructive feedback. Benefits & Salary
- Package: $93,854‑$96,671 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Permanent full time, with the option of a 19‑day month through Council’s flex system.
