Tree Management Officer – Proactive Inspections Sutherland Shire, New South Wales Position Overview As a Tree Management Officer – Proactive Inspections, you will play a critical role in the Council’s urban forestry program by undertaking systematic inspections and assessments of tree assets across the Shire. Your work will ensure trees are managed safely, responsibly and in line with arboriculture best practice and Council’s strategic frameworks. Responsibilities
- Identify risks and monitor tree health and condition across the Shire.
- Develop and implement proactive inspection programs that balance public safety with canopy preservation.
- Prepare clear, accurate technical reports and contribute to the Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plans.
- Collaborate with the Tree Canopy Management team to support continuous improvement and innovation. Qualifications
- A Diploma of Arboriculture (AQF Level 5) and a Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking tree assessments, inspections and risk management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, solutions‑focused approach.
- Experience developing proactive inspection programs and preparing technical reports.
- Commitment to best‑practice arboriculture, public safety and continuous improvement. Benefits and Working Conditions
- Package: From $96,671 gross per annum plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Permanent full time; option of 19 days per month through Council’s flex system.
