About The Role The Principal Development Planner will play a vital role in assessing development proposals, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy while prioritising community and environmental well‑being. This position will involve collaboration with team leaders and managers to navigate complex development applications and coordinate reports for planning panels. In addition to handling application assessments, the Principal Development Planner will actively participate in project teams, assist in policy development, and represent the council in various forums and courts. This role requires a proactive and analytical individual who can manage competing priorities while delivering high‑quality outcomes. Who We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning, urban and regional planning, or architecture.
- Extensive experience in assessing major development applications and drafting reports for planning panels.
- Solid understanding of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders and manage complex issues effectively.
- Proven skills in project management and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
