Based in BYD’s Melbourne office in Mulgrave and reporting to the Finance Manager, we seek a meticulous and proactive Senior Accountant to join our high‑performing finance team. Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Lead the month‑end and year‑end closing processes, preparing accurate financial statements in accordance with AASB/IFRS for both local statutory purposes and group consolidation.
- Intercompany & Consolidation: Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations. Prepare and submit timely reporting packages to the China Head Office.
- Data Analysis & Provisioning: Extract, analyse, and review large volumes of accounting data; accurately calculate monthly provisions (accruals) and perform necessary adjustments or write‑backs.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary finance contact between the Australian entity and the Chinese parent company, facilitating smooth communication regarding budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Compliance Support: Assist with statutory audits, tax filings (BAS/IAS), and ensure adherence to internal control policies.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance the scalability of financial reporting systems.
- Ad‑hoc Projects: Provide support to the Finance Manager on various projects, including system implementations or special business analysis as required. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a commercial accounting environment or public practice.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven setting.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Language: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is highly regarded, as the role involves frequent interaction with the Global HQ. Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly preferred.
- Experience within the automotive or retail industry.
