A great opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our fully equipped Defence Maintenance Contract team based at Simpson Barracks, Watsonia, Northeast Melbourne, with the opportunity to work at RAAF Base Laverton. As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll carry out routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy military vehicles, including 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, infantry personnel carriers and even armoured tanks. - Conduct Maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification
- Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials
- Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaces parts
- Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
- Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection
- Inspect vehicles and issue road worthiness certificates About you
- Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent level
- Demonstrated experience to inspect, repair and maintain Light, Medium and Heavy vehicles
- Must possess a current Australian State or Territory class C Driver's License
