Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative – Engagement & Family Services is currently recruiting for the following vacancy at our Mooroopna office: Boorai Family Practitioner Full Time – 38 Hours Per Week | Ongoing This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. About Us Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative (RAC) is a leading Aboriginal community-controlled organisation delivering culturally safe services across the Goulburn Valley since 1980. With over 320 staff, RAC supports community through health, wellbeing, family services, and community development, strengthening culture, connection, and outcomes for Aboriginal people. About the Role The Boorai Family Practitioner provides culturally safe, trauma-informed case management to Aboriginal children, young people, and families, supporting their emotional, developmental, and cultural wellbeing and facilitating safe and sustainable family reunification. Working in partnership with parents, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), and key stakeholders, you will:
- Lead care team meetings
- Complete case documentation and meeting minutes
- Conduct regular home visits
- Coordinate referrals to appropriate support services This role is grounded in Aboriginal self-determination and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children and families. About You: To be successful in this role, you will have: Eligibility
- You are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Qualifications and Registrations:
- A recognised qualification such as a Diploma in Community Services or a related field (minimum Diploma level). Knowledge and skills:
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, intergenerational trauma, and its impact on children and families.
- Sound knowledge of the out-of-home care system, including the Child, Youth and Families Act 2005, Looking After Children Framework, Cultural Support Planning, and Aboriginal Child Placement Principles.
- Demonstrated experience in case management, including risk assessment, care coordination, referrals, stakeholder engagement, and culturally responsive practice.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, skilled boundaries, and compliance with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. What We Offer:
