SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - UNDERGROUND COAL (Moranbah)

Carborough Downs underground Bord and Pillar mine is located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, approximately 30km north-east of Moranbah and 160km from Mackay and forms part of the broader Argo Complex. This integrated mining complex includes the Ironbark Longwall Pit and Broadlea Open Cut, as well as a centralised Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), where collaboration between our sites and teams is key to delivering safe and efficient outcomes. - Monitor and analyse performance, including variance analysis, to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Provide management accounting support and consolidated reporting across multiple departments
- Lead the budgeting, reforecasting, and reporting processes for both Opex and Capex
- Prepare and deliver weekly KPI reports to key stakeholders
- Assist in the completion of audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Lead and support ad hoc projects focused on process improvements
- Continuously assess and improve direct spending, balance sheet risks, opportunities, and overall profitability
- Facilitate monthly cost review meetings, collaborating with relevant teams to drive cost control initiatives
- Review and assess capital applications and out-of-budget operational requests to ensure alignment with financial goals
- Manage end-of-month processes, including journal entries, stock revaluation, and preparation of monthly management reports WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Willingness to be site-based; this position is hands-on and requires you to build strong relationships on the ground
- Applicants who have in office experience within the mining/construction industry will have an advantage, but if you are an experienced accountant we encourage you to apply if a site based position is your next career move!
- Hold the relevant tertiary qualifications (CA/CPA or working towards it)
- The ability to tailor communication to all levels of the business
- Have strong attention to detail, a structured approach to work, and a skillset for reporting and delivering accurate financial insights
- Solid Excel and systems skills, with the ability to efficiently extract, analyse, and interpret data WHAT WE OFFER YOU
