Description
ZECO Energy is at the forefront of the energy transition, working across solar, battery storage, and EV charging to make renewable energy accessible to everyone. ZECO Australian Energy Solutions Pty Ltd delivers integrated renewable energy and distributed energy resource (DER) solutions across Australia. Our business is built on three core pillars:
- Installation & Electrification – Design and deployment of solar, battery storage, and electrification solutions for residential and commercial applications.
- Technical Services – Provision of phone-based and remote technical support for leading energy technology brands, supporting installers and service partners nationwide.
- Energy Technology & Innovation – Development of advanced energy platforms, including our proprietary Marshall system. The Marshall platform enables real‑time monitoring, control, and optimisation of energy assets. It supports a wide range of stakeholders, including installers, engineers, OEMs, DNSPs, and commercial clients, helping them improve system performance, ensure compliance with AS/NZS standards, DNSP requirements, and DER interoperability frameworks such as CSIP‑AUS, and maximise energy value. ZECO combines practical field expertise with engineering innovation to deliver reliable, compliant, and future‑ready energy solutions aligned with Australia’s evolving energy landscape. Role Overview This role leads the development, operation, and optimisation of the Marshall platform, ZECO’s core technology for distributed energy resource (DER) control and orchestration. You will drive technical innovation and engineering strategy to deliver advanced solutions across key use cases, including:
- Dynamic export control and grid compliance
- Multi‑tenant and embedded network energy systems
- Residential solar and storage optimisation
- Fleet‑level DER monitoring and control
- Custom engineering solutions for complex commercial sites The role ensures the platform delivers reliable, scalable, and compliant outcomes aligned with DNSP requirements, AS/NZS standards, and DER interoperability frameworks such as CSIP‑AUS. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of the Marshall platform
- Ensure robust performance across:
- DER Control & Grid Compliance
- Define and implement control strategies, including:
- Energetic export limits (0kW, fixed, and variable)
- Emergency backstop and remote curtailment
- Ensure compliance with DNSP requirements, including Victorian Emergency Backstop
- Maintain alignment with AS/NZS standards and CSIP‑AUS
- Deliver scalable solutions for:
- Commercial and complex sites (embedded networks and multi‑tenant systems)
- Residential solar and battery optimisation
- Strata and shared solar environments (including billing and allocation logic)
- Develop custom control logic for unique client and grid requirements
- Fleet Management & Performance:
- Oversee fleet‑level monitoring, analytics, and reporting to ensure visibility and compliance tracking
- Support development of compliance verification and reporting systems
- Engineering Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the engineering team across electrical and control system domains
- Collaborate with software and IT teams to ensure platform scalability and reliability
- Stakeholder & Commercial Support:
- Provide technical leadership to installers, engineers, consultants, OEMs, and DNSPs
- Support sales with solution design, technical proposals, and client demonstrations
