**Provide practical and emotional support to young pregnant and parenting women, helping them build independent living skills and improve well-being across 24/7 sites.**
**The Role**
We have an opening position for Family Support Worker within the Young Family Support Program. This is a** fixed-term, part-time role** **until 30 June 2027.**
Reporting to the Senior Manager and working alongside a collaborative, supportive team, you will be based at Louise Place at Fullarton. Your primary responsibility will be to provide both practical and emotional support to young pregnant and parenting women and their children. You will use a variety of skills to help these women develop independent living abilities, improve their mental health and well-being, and foster positive family relationships, all in line with the program's service model and Case Management Guidelines.
Other key duties in this role will include:
- Collaborate with the Senior Practitioner, Social Worker, and support staff to implement the Young Family Support Program service model.
- Assist clients in building capacity, strengthening family relationships, and connecting with community resources.
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
- Provide support for identified issues, including mental health, drug and alcohol use.
- Ensure tenancy requirements are met, including maintaining and reviewing rent records.
- Perform daily cleaning and household management tasks as outlined in the site's task sheet and as directed by the Senior Practitioner and Senior Manager.
**About You**
You are a compassionate and motivated individual with a genuine passion for supporting young families. You have experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly young pregnant and parenting women, and understand the unique challenges they face. You have excellent communication skills which enables you to build trust, offer emotional and practical support.
You are also flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts, with the ability to manage a 24/7 rotating roster. Your adaptability ensures you can respond to short-notice changes, providing continuous support to the Young Family Support program.
**Essential Criteria**
- Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent
- Knowledge of child development and child-parent attachment
- Knowledge of the impacts of homelessness on young women and their children
- An understanding of the impact of childhood trauma, attachment theory and adolescent development
- Proficient in computer use and ability to learn and use databases
- Must be willing and available to work evenings, weekends and overnights and have flexibility to work a 24/7 roster
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Be prepared to undertake a psychological assessment (essential for Louise Place)
