- Job Reference No. 2651 About the prospect TAFE Gippsland is seeking a strategic and creative Communications and Marketing Lead to drive the profile, reputation and stakeholder engagement of the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence (CoE). This is a unique opportunity to shape the narrative of one of Australia’s most significant vocational education initiatives supporting the transition to renewable energy. Reporting to the Manager Marketing and Communications, you will provide senior strategic advice and hands‑on leadership across communications, marketing, media, stakeholder engagement and issues management. You will work closely with the Centre Director, Executive Leadership Team, partner TAFEs, government and industry stakeholders to position the Centre of Excellence as a nationally significant initiative that is building the workforce needed for Australia’s clean energy future. About the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence In April 2026, the Australian and Victorian Governments announced a $50 million investment to establish the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence at TAFE Gippsland’s Morwell campus. The Centre of Excellence will position Gippsland as a national leader in renewable energy training and innovation, supporting the workforce needed to deliver Australia’s transition to net zero. The initiative includes:
- State of the art training facilities and equipment, replicating real world industry conditions across offshore wind, transmission infrastructure, smart grids, controls and operations, and home electrification.
- Industry led curriculum development.
- Innovation and applied research to solve problems and improve training methods.
- Embedded industry engagement and industry partnerships.
- Building awareness and interest in renewable energy careers and infrastructure.
- Collaboration with consortium partners including South West TAFE, Holmesglen Institute and Federation TAFE. Through this nationally significant initiative, TAFE Gippsland and the consortium TAFE will develop cutting‑edge training products and pathways that can be shared across Australia’s TAFE network. About you You are a senior communications and marketing professional with strong strategic capability and a track record of delivering high‑impact campaigns in complex stakeholder environments. You are equally comfortable advising executives on reputational and political risks as you are developing compelling content, managing media opportunities and delivering integrated communications campaigns. You can translate complex policy and technical information into clear, engaging and audience‑focused messaging. You thrive in collaborative environments, build strong stakeholder relationships and bring sound judgement when managing high‑profile and politically sensitive issues. Qualifications and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Media or a related discipline (highly desirable)
- Extensive senior experience in communications and/or marketing roles
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic communications and marketing plans
- Experience providing strategic communications advice to executives, boards or steering committees
- Experience leading communications for large-scale, government‑funded or high‑profile initiatives
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, technology, education or related sectors is highly desirable
- Experience managing communications budgets and external agencies or suppliers. Key knowledge and skills

- Reputation management and issues management
- Media relations and public relations
- Executive communications and speech writing
- Stakeholder engagement across government, industry and education sectors
- Digital marketing, CRM, social media and analytics
- Exceptional writing and content development skills
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery Mandatory requirements
- Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance
- Current Police Check (not older than 12 months old)
